Credit Union CEO Retires After 45 Years

Houston, TX. - CEO Brian Gilbert announced he is retiring from Members Trust Federal Credit Union on September 30th, 2023, after serving the credit union for 45 years and the last 13 years as CEO.

Brian was first hired in April 1978 as an Assistant Manager with very little knowledge of finance. With a background in agriculture, he assisted in handling agricultural loans and was able to learn some accounting and finance along the way. Gilbert is a graduate of Southwest CUNA Management School and a Certified Credit Union Executive.... Read more

David Schein was born in Philadelphia, but grew up in a small town near Boston. Hid big break came when my father, career-Navy, was transferred to the big Naval base in Norfolk, VA. Being in a bigger city and a little more southern agreed with him. He did well in high school and earned a full scholarship back to Philly at the University of Pennsylvania. He started college as a pre-med, but discovered that he did not like working with sick people in his work-study job at the UPenn Hospital. He ended up with a degree in Transportation Economics while hosting a weekly radio program on the arts on Public Radio. He also had my own arts management business and went on to earn his MBA at the University of Virginia Darden School.... Read more

John was born and raised in rural Iowa. He studied Mechanical Engineering at University of Iowa and later received an MBA from the University of Kentucky.

His first job was working on his dad’s dairy farm where they also raised crops and hogs. John came to Houston in 1992 to work for Weatherford International as a design engineer.  He worked as a mechanical engineer in various roles from design to project and operations management primarily in the oil and gas field.  

John purchased Mr. Handyman to prove to himself that he could run his own business and set himself up for retirement... Read more
