French American Bistro with a Latin Flare

The Brothers Pucha began their culinary adventure in Deleg, Ecuador. Manuel began to cook for his 7 siblings at an early age, while his mother was running her local restaurant. Manuel went to art school, in Guayaquil to study painting, while his brothers Cristian and Victor attended high school.

When the whole family moved to New York, Manuel found himself working at Steak Frites in New York City. He became enamored with the flavors, colors, textures, techniques and limitless possibilities that the culinary world had to offer. He expanded his knowledge and skills around Manhattan, working at La Goulue and Orsay.

His brothers, now joining him on this adventure, Victor honing his craft as a pastry chef at Brasserie Du Cognac and Cristian learning the front of the house, and bartending at Le Colonial while attending sommelier classes.

An opportunity to join the opening team at Bistro Moderne, in Houston, split the brothers apart and an excited Manuel headed to Texas to tackle new challenges. Bistro Moderne reunited Manuel with chefs Philippe Schmit and Jose Hernandez, who had all worked together in NYC.

When Phillippe opened his namesake restaurant in the Galleria area, Manuel joined him as Executive Sous Chef. When the restaurant transitioned to Table on Post Oak, Manuel was promoted to Executive chef.

As the restaurant transitioned into it's French-inspired persona as La Table, Manuel continued to earn accolades for his innovative food, updating French classics and adding nuances from his Ecuadorian heritage.

Maison Pucha Bistro is the culmination of Chef Manuel's 25 year culinary journey. Securing a location in Houston's historic Heights neighborhood, Manuel, Cristian and Victor have reunited in the true sense of fraternité, to open their very own restaurant to showcase their talents and vision of true hospitality. After 20 years of operating and developing all types of nightlife concepts within the Houston market, this group developed McIntyre’s to blend the neighborhood sports bar experience with the laid-back, outdoor-patio vibe that has become a staple in the Sunbelt states.

NoPo — an acronym for North Post Oak, which is designed to describe the emerging neighborhood that sits east of Spring Branch, north of the Galleria and west of Timbergrove — was termed by Berg Hospitality Group owner and founder, Benjamin Berg. Located at 1244 North Post Oak Rd., NoPo Café, Market & Bar is an all-day concept serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu features a variety of egg dishes and pastries for breakfast along with lunch and dinner options of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, pizzas and entrées; plus wine and cocktail specials for weekday happy hour.

Guests can enjoy café seating in the front and a 36-seat dining room in the back along with a 6-seat full-service bar. The rustic yet fresh, French country design includes white birch floors, high ceilings with chandeliers, vintage rodeo wall décor and a custom-made pewter bar.

Houston's oldest continuing serving bar b cue, Pizzitola's has been a fixture in the Greater Heights/West End neighborhood since 1935. Shepherd Drive was only a two lane black-top road when we planted our flat at 1703 Shepherd Drive. Originally known as Shepherd Drive Bar B Cue, the name was changed in 1985 when Jerry Pizzitola took over the pits. The only remaining "open brick pits" in Houston were built by Mr. John Davis, the " World's Greatest Barbecue Man", and continue to burn today. They produce a unique flavor that can only come from pits seasoned for over 88 years.

Savoir, a French word meaning “to know”, is a new American restaurant with Mediterranean and Southern influence. They have a speakeasy steakhouse located through the wine cellar called Patton's Boutique Steakhouse. The story of Savoir covers nearly 1600 miles and more than five years. It took all the right pieces fitting at the perfect time in an old, abandoned warehouse for Savoir to come to life. When a husband-and-wife duo with an insatiable passion for food wanted to venture into the restaurant world, they went on a mission to find the unequivocal location. It took the owners several years to find the right place. Numerous locales across state lines with varying concepts were considered. Finally finding the perfect home in the heart of Houston Heights – inside a wearied warehouse on the neglected corner of 14th and Yale. With this ideal location, the renovation of the abandoned building commenced immediately, with the owners being sensitive to salvage as much of the past charming elements as possible. Incorporating the new with the old was a delicate balance that was applied to the entire project. New elements were necessary to bring the building up to code but almost all the wood ceiling, brick walls and some former flooring were retained to allow for the prior charm to shine through. From the beginning, the owners shared the same principle of utmost customer care and worked tirelessly to assemble an impeccable team made up of individuals reflecting this principle, all sharing this same culture of service. With the sole ambition to provide diners with a neighborhood gem to enjoy meals with family and friends in an upscale yet unpretentious environment, Savoir strives to be the destination to experience great food, fine wine and life’s forever moments. Hence our name, Savoir. Patton's Steakhouse is a unique and upscale dining destination that specializes in serving classic steakhouse fare with a modern twist.
